Biography Henri Heyligers
Henri Heyligers (Jakarta 1877 -1967 Nice) was a student at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Cormon studio. Heyligers also lived in Munich, Elspeet, Brussels, Katwijk and Laren. In 1950 he left for Nice France. He painted and watercolored portraits, still lifes and figure paintings of farmers and fishermen and was one of the painters of the Laren School. The artist became famous with his Laren farmhouse interiors and beach scenes. But he also painted very beautiful mundane scenes with beautiful light. Henri Heyligers was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. You can find his work in the collections of the Veluws Museum and the Stedelijk, among others.
