Biography Geert Meyer

The work of Geert Meyer (Groningen 1937) is somewhere between impressionism and expressionism. Beaches, landscapes, but especially equestrian sports are his most beloved subjects. Characteristic of his work are the primary and fresh colors. People are often shown in a line. From 1959 onwards, Meyer trained for five years at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and returned to Groningen, where he later also taught briefly at the Minerva Academy. He was part of the artist group 'Nu'.
