Biography Alblade Glover
Market places, lorry parks, Ghanian towns and other urban spaces, crowded with ordinary people are regular themes of professor, educator and foremost artist and painter Ablade Glover (Accra, Ghana 1934). He has exhibited widely, building an international reputation over several decades, as well as being regarded as a seminal figure on the West African art scene. His work is held in many prestigious private and public collections, which include the Imperial Palace of Japan, the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and soon in your home? He has received several national and international awards, including the Order of the Volta in Ghana, and is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London. His traditional artworks demonstrates the traditional African and modern Western styles. Trained in Ghana, London and the USA. He once stated that his inspiration comes from women and the way they move and interact. They are the backbone of society. Glover use of colour and textures (often he uses just a palette knife) are created as thick impasto. The colourfull painting plays with light and shade.
