Sadik Kwaish Alfraji, born in 1960, pursued his artistic education at the Institute of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad, as well as at the School of the Arts Constantijn Huygens in Kampen. His artistic journey has taken him to renowned venues, including MoMA PS1 in New York, where his work has been exhibited. Alfraji's creations have also graced at the prestigious stages of Venice Biennales several times between 2015 and 2019.
Alfraji's artistic practice encompasses a diverse range of media, including video, animation, sound, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Within his body of work, he skillfully explores themes such as memory, narration, and nostalgia. These themes intermingle, bridging the personal and the political, and seamlessly merging the realms of history and contemporary events.
