Biography Theo Kuijpers (Helmond 1939)
Kuijpers (Helmond 1939) is a renowned painter, collagist, sculptor, and graphic artist, attended the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. Serving in the military in the early sixties in Suriname, he later infused his artworks with impressions from South America in his works. His creative process often begins with travels to Morocco, Australia, Italy, France, and Iceland, among others. He captured the colors on the canvas. While gradually transitioning into abstract painting, he has steadfastly retained a constructivist approach. He is a 'builder' of paintings by integrating materials such as canvas, rope, and branches alongside paint.
Kuijpers' artworks grace the collections of esteemed institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, and the Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo, among others. Several publications have been dedicated to exploring Theo Kuijpers' artistry and his oeuvre.
