Biopgraphy Fritz Beckert

Beckert (Leipzig 1877 - Dresden 1962) is a German Impressionist who first painted in Leipzig and then in Dresden. He was a German architectural painter and lecturer at the Technical University of Dresden. He studied at the Leipzig Art Academy from 1894 to 1896. In 1900 he studied at the Dresden Art Academy as a student of Friedrich Preller the Elder and Gotthardt Kuehl. He co-founded the artist group Die Elbier, which became part of the Impressionist Dresden Secession in 1909. From 1908 he taught as a private lecturer in architectural painting at the Technical University of Dresden. In 1921 he became a full professor there. In 1945, Beckert lost his studio and most of his work in the bombing of Dresden.
